Dancing Parallel

Overview

A 10 minute dance film commissioned by English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet and Dance Theatre Wales which featured sixty participants of mixed experience aged 14 to 18 from the three countries and incorporating ballet, parkour and contemporary forms.

Further Details

Dancing Parallel drew its inspiration from the contrasting environments of the participants’ home cities in Aberdeen, Cardiff and London.

The programme is completed with a beautiful film by Nic Sandiland in which three groups of young dancers from England, Scotland and Wales leap around with chairs. There are hints of Lloyd Newson to the movement material, which is energetic and physical, and the film is a welcome reminder of the quality of youth dance work taking place in all three GB nations.
