Perpetual Indecision 1996

Perptual Indecision by Nic Sandiland. A room with wooden floorboards. The room has a green hue. On the floor are lots of mini fans arranged in a square. The fans are on.

A seemingly abandoned scientific experiment set in a disused science laboratory originally run by Michael Faraday.

Perpetual Indecision involved a grid of 100 pocket electric fans creating air currents through the space causing an anemometer at the other side of the room to slowly rotate.

The anemometer was, in turn, connected to the tuning dial of a transistor radio. Gusts of air from the fan caused the radio continuously to tune and detune drifting subtly through its long-wave frequencies.
